Rhythm and Vines to cap numbers

Rhythm and Alps rapid growth forces festival organisers to cap numbers for Rhythm and Vines

Rhythm and Alps, in its first year at its new location in the beautiful Cardrona Valley, Wanaka, is experiencing overwhelming demand for tickets.  Increased interest in the festival has meant there are now less than 200 general admission tickets for the 2 day  festival and only limited availability for 2 day tickets with camping. Vodafone Vintage Club VIP tickets already sold out earlier in the month, and festival organisers Rhythm Group are expecting all tickets to sell out in early December.

In order to deliver the high quality experience patrons expect at both Gisborne and Wanaka, a decision has been made to reduce the capacity of Rhythm and Vines from 30,000 to 25,000 to ensure there are enough resources and key staff in place to deliver two premium festivals.

Kieran Spillane, CEO of Rhythm Group explains;

"We have been blown away by demand for Rhythm and Alps this year.  Changing the location of Rhythm and Alps to Wanaka has produced huge demand and we have already had to reconfigure the festival site on two occasions to cope with the capacity we now have to deal with.  We found ourselves unprepared for the demand and a consequence of this is that we have had to allocate significantly more time and resources to dealing with the number of festival goers who will attend Alps. We are very conscious of the high standards expected of Rhythm Group events and to ensure we have sufficient key staff and resources in both locations to deliver two great parties at the same time we need to hold the capacity of Rhythm and Vines at 25,000, down from 30,000. This effectively means we can plan for two sold out festivals at both Rhythm & Vines and Rhythm and Alps this year and keep both the North and the South Island festival goers happy.”

The internationally acclaimed three day music festival, Rhythm and Vines, showcases the world’s best musicians in one of the most beautiful locations to welcome in the new year, the Waiohika Estate Vineyard in Gisborne, New Zealand.  Rhythm and Alps was started in 2010 to cater for the New Year’s Eve crowds in the South Island. It was relocated this year to the popular holiday destination Wanaka.
