She’s captured the imagination of Netballers around the world with her dynamic and unorthodox style and now Malawi’s Mwai Kumwenda is ready for her next challenge.

“We’re going to pull out all the stops to make her feel welcome here in Christchurch and that all starts with meeting her teammates and management on Sunday.”
“Coaches Leigh Gibbs and Julie Seymour spent some time with Mwai during her last visit here a month ago, so she’ll will see a few familiar faces,” Hearn said.
“We’re excited that she’s arrived safely and we are looking forward to a great 2014 season.”
Kumwenda is the first player from Malawi to be signed to an ANZ Championship team after impressing in the Australian Netball League becoming the first international player to scoop the ‘Player of The Year’ award. She has signed with the Tactix for the 2014 season.
Kumwenda has spent some time in New Zealand over the past few seasons, most recently as a Malawi Queen’s team member competing in the New World Netball Series against the Silver Ferns. She was also one of the star shooters in the FAST5 Netball World Series, again playing for her country. Kumwenda recorded 69/72 from the one-point range in the competition and was fifth highest from the two-point range underlying her shooting credentials.
The EasiYo Tactix start their pre-season training next week.
