Late night openings at Museum of Wellington City & Sea launches on Thursday 20 March with free live poetry. From 7pm Wellington poets, including Harry Ricketts take the stage to read and discuss their work.
Voted one of the world’s top 50 museums, the Museum of Wellington City & Sea are delighted to announce that their award winning exhibitions will be more accessible to the busy lives of the public by remaining open late every third Thursday until 8.30pm.
Public Programmes and Learning Manager Rachel Ingram says, “Not only will the Museum be open late to fit in with people’s busy lives, but each evening will feature a diverse range of acts such as poetry readings, discussions, music and even a special spooky night later in the year.”
Director of Museums Wellington Brett Mason says, “The Museum has been working hard to facilitate new and innovative events that shares Wellington’s stories and Taonga. The Museum’s late night adds to the capital’s vibrant culture and nightlife activity.”
From Thursday 20 March onward, every Third Thursday will showcase Wellington’s history, people, taonga and culture at Museum of Wellington City & Sea. The Museum will be open from 10am-8.30pm. Bring a date, a group, family or come on your own to discover more of Wellington as we know it.
