Rugby World Cup 2015 Countdown Begins

Rugby World Cup 2015 Countdown Begins

Thursday 18 September marks one year to go until Rugby’s biggest event, Rugby World Cup 2015, and Kiwis are certainly planning to be there in big numbers.

All Blacks Tours is the Official Travel Agent in New Zealand for the Tournament, and launched official supporter travel packages in March of this year.

Sales to date have exceeded expectations, with over 10,000 tickets being sold to New Zealand fans securing their place at the event, which is being held in the UK.

“The number of packages we have sold since going on sale in March is phenomenal and we didn’t expect to be this far ahead after six months of sales given Kiwis are traditionally late purchasers,” All Blacks Tours General Manager David Caldwell says.

“It’s great to see the All Blacks will have such a strong fan base over there supporting them as they look to defend the Webb Ellis Cup and make history by becoming the first team to achieve back to back wins,” Caldwell says.

Last week All Blacks Tours released two exclusive RWC 2015 Fan-Flight packages, hosted by former All Blacks Coach and Rugby World Cup 2011 winner Graham Henry, and former All Black and hero, Stephen Donald. Both packages include Semi-final and Final matches, with Graham Henry’s Fan Flight also including the Quarter-finals.

Henry is looking forward to being part of the Tournament again, although his role is now focused on bringing together the team behind the team.

“To be able to experience this phenomenal Tournament from the supporters side is really going to be something different. I’m excited that Beaver and I can share this experience with a bunch of like-minded New Zealanders who share the same passion for rugby and the All Blacks as we do,“ Sir Graham Henry says.

Rugby World Cup 2015 kicks off on Friday 18 September 2015, where a spectacular opening ceremony is planned, followed by the opening match between England and Fiji at Twickenham Stadium.

The All Blacks’ first pool match will be against Argentina at Wembley Stadium, followed by Namibia, Georgia and Tonga in their pool matches.

Fans wanting to book an Official RWC 2015 tour package can visit www.allblackstours.com or call the All Blacks Tours team on 0800 87 2011.
