Applications Open for 2015 Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship

AUCKLAND, 23 September 2014 - Applications have opened for the 2015 Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship. The Fellowship is a national literary award offering published New Zealand writers the opportunity to focus on their craft full-time, providing an annual stipend and tenure at the Sargeson Centre in Auckland.

“The Fellowship has been an important feature in the New Zealand literary landscape for more than 25 years, recognising and supporting some of our greatest talents,” says Paul Grimshaw, Partner, Grimshaw & Co.

“The Grimshaw Sargeson Fellowship offers New Zealand writers the time, space and financial support to develop their craft, and we are very proud to support them in making their contribution to our rich literary culture,” says Grimshaw.

Chair of the Sargeson Trust, Elizabeth Aitken Rose, says the fellowship is open to any published New Zealand writer, either living here or overseas.

“In the spirit of acknowledging Frank Sargeson’s own contribution to New Zealand writers, the Fellowship continues to offer our promising writers – wherever they may be – the freedom, space and encouragement they need, often at a critical time in their writing career.”

The Fellowship was established 28 years ago to commemorate Frank Sargeson and provide assistance to New Zealand writers. It offers outstanding writers the opportunity to write full-time, free from financial pressure, along with providing them with tenure at the Sargeson Centre, adjacent to the University of Auckland.
