TV3 Announces Host Of Grand Designs New Zealand
MediaWorks TV is delighted to
announce award-winning architect and urbanist Chris Moller
will host the upcoming TV3 series Grand Designs New
Zealand.
The series, which is part of the internationally successful Grand Designs format, will be on-air in 2015 and will tell the stories of creative and enterprising Kiwis who are determined to build their ultimate dream home. The programme will follow the process of these incredible building projects from the initial blueprints, through to the long and often arduous task of turning the plans into practical living spaces.
Moller has worked extensively overseas including in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and the Netherlands. He has been fortunate to win and realise important urban housing and intensification projects and has won many accolades for his work including the Samarkand Regeneration, Gallipoli Peace Park, European 3 Groningen (Netherlands), Grenoble Ville du Foret, Tbilisi Rose Revolution Square redevelopment, Tallinn Aquarium and the Future Schools Sustainability Award for his Click-Raft system in Australia.
He is the founding partner of Wellington based design practice CMA+U and previous international architecture/urban design practice S333. He is Deputy Chair and founding board member of the newly formed PrefabNZ, a non-profit focused on bringing a step change to the New Zealand construction industry and to tackle the country's housing challenges head on. Previously he was a founding partner of the ‘City On A Roof’ non-profit Innovation Platform (Groningen-Hamburg-Tallinn) and has taught at post-graduate level in Housing and Urbanism for many years.
“I'm tremendously excited to be part of
Grand Designs New Zealand – it’s wonderful to get out
there and discover the creative spirit of Kiwis rolling up
their sleeves to realise their dreams in ingenious ways,”
said Moller.
“Architecture has a deep influence on us, it shapes the way we live, how we feel, our health and wellbeing. It also has a deep influence on the planet. So Grand Designs New Zealand is the perfect opportunity to bring the importance of good architecture and the huge benefits it can generate to a broad audience.”
Sue Woodfield, TV3’s Head of Commissioning and External Production adds: “We’re thrilled to have secured someone of Chris’ calibre to present Grand Designs New Zealand. He is one of New Zealand’s leading architectural and urban designers and his knowledge is vast. It’s a pleasure to be working with Chris on this series and we’re looking forward to showcasing the best of Kiwi ingenuity in 2015.”
ANZ is the production partner and broadcast sponsor of Grand Designs New Zealand. TV3 would also like to acknowledge programme partner Land Rover, and the funding support of NZ on Air in making the series.
