Matterhorn & Strange Behaviour presents HNNY

Matterhorn & Strange Behaviour presents HNNY (Sweden)

Matterhorn & Strange Behaviour are proud to bring you, “probably the hottest producer of dance music to come out of Sweden since ABBA”, for his first appearance in Wellington. HNNY (pronounced honey) first made an impact with a cheeky Mariah Carey edit in 2011, and over the last few years has established himself as a leading light of the contemporary house scene, with ‘For the Very First Time’ and ‘Tears’ gaining HNNY huge amounts of underground credibility, before his simple yet near-perfect edit of Brandy & Monica, titled ‘Boy’, topped many DJs best of lists in 2013.

“Put HNNY in a DJ booth and you’ll hear an expertly mixed set of underground club music new and old, with fond memories of the old school and a steady gaze set on the future of dance music”.

The Stockholm based DJ and producer balances a heavy touring schedule with releases on Let’s Play House, Local Talk and Permanent Vacation, alongside his limited edition vinyl only releases, which sell out almost instantly. Coming directly from Europe, the Matterhorn have locked in HNNY for a Wellington show before he flies out for dates in Australia, including a set at Strawberry Fields, and performances with Flight Facilities.

This is a rare chance to see one of the most acclaimed DJs in house music today, with HNNY guaranteed to push the boundaries of genre, taking in disco, boogie, and deep house, all seamlessly mixed into a groove laden selection of essential tunes. And with his debut album due any week now, this is the perfect chance to see a leading light of the electronic music scene.

Support comes from Zen & Longboss from Radio Active’s infamous The Jewel School Show, and Vernon & Bastian whose Mi Casa Su Casa night has provided Wellington with a consistently good house party over the last few years. Celebrated Wellington-based visual artists Lady Lazer Light and Messoteric will also be providing unique new work especially developed for the night.
