Waipareira Super10s Sports Challenge is here

Waipareira Super10s Sports Challenge is here

Over 400 men, women and children will take part in the Waipareira Super10s Sports Challenge this weekend.

On Saturday at the Waitemata Rugby Club in Swanson Road, Henderson, teams will compete for the ultimate accolade – to become the Waipareira Super 10s Champions.

Waipareira event organiser Danielle Vaoga says the buy-in from the community to the Challenge has been overwhelming.

The sports are children’s tag (Under 10s and Under 12s), mixed touch rugby and rugby league 9s.

“When we decided to run this event, we had to be sure it was for the community and more importantly the community would participate,” Ms Vaoga said.

“When some of the codes filled quickly, we knew this is what they wanted.

“We even had to turn teams away. But for Waipareira, it’s all about whanau and we are looking forward to hosting a great day for those taking part and those supporting.”

The powhiri is from 8am at the rugby club and the games kick off from 9am.

To keep the crowds entertained, Waipareira is also staging a free concert featuring Swiss, Sammy J, Abbie and DJ Thomas Rose.

Plus if you register for Waipareira services on the day, you will go in the draw for spot prizes, that include Vodaphone top ups, food vouchers and movie passes.

One lucky person who registers with Waipareira will also walk away with a $500 bike voucher.
