While SUPER 8 boxers are taking a few final deep breaths before entering the SUPER FIGHT NIGHT arena, more than half a million Asthmatic kiwis face a battle to draw breath each day.

Asthma is one of the biggest health issues in New Zealand today with 1 in 6 adults and 1 in 4 children affected.

In aid of Asthma New Zealand, for the first time in broadcast television history, SUPER 8 have teamed up with BuddyBid to run a live charity auction on Facebook which anybody in the world can participate in.

An exciting range of auction items are up for grabs including priceless experiences such as lunch with Kimbra in Los Angeles with flights and luxury accommodation, a fishing trip for four with TV3’s Geoff Thomas which will also be filmed for the hit show “Ream outdoors with Geoff” and a 7 Day Turkey and Greece sailing adventure for up to 10 people on a luxury catamaran - to name a few.

Auction Producer, Cathy Taylor says the auction has attracted a huge amount of traffic – over 80,000 views from over 500 cities around the world.

“The auction is open to anyone around the world with a Facebook account and we’ve got some pretty amazing prizes up for grabs, so the bidding wars have well and truly begun”.

“The BuddyBid addition has taken online auctions to a whole new level – it’s like e-Bay or Trade Me on steroids!”.

SKY Arena Director John McRae is rapt to be able to do a small part to ease the burden asthmatics face.

“It can be a crippling disease but with the right funding we can play a small part in assisting Asthma New Zealand provide training, education and support to people with asthma so they might lead as normal a lifestyle as possible.”
