Wishing and hoping at Capital E this December

Wishing and hoping at Capital E this December

Visitors to Capital E’s Wishful Woodland this December will find themselves in the middle of an enchanted forest where they can provide hope for kids going into foster care.

From 1 – 24 December, Capital E Central will be transformed into a Wishful Woodland, complete with trees decorated with toothbrushes, soap and even pyjamas!

Capital E is working with Foster Hope to raise awareness and donations for this fantastic local charity. Foster Hope provides kits for kids going into foster care. Each kit is made up of a backpack containing products such as toothpaste, shampoo and soap, and other items like books and soft toys.

“Many foster children arrive at their placement with nothing but the clothes on their back and their belongings in a black rubbish sack. No child should be made to feel like their belongings are rubbish, and caregivers should be able to focus on the emotional needs when a child arrives, rather than having to run around doing last minute shopping,” explains Louise, Foster Hope (Director).

Capital E and Foster Hope are working together throughout December to make up as many of these backpacks as possible. Intrepid Wishful Woodland explorers can help by picking special items from the trees and packing a kit themselves.

“When you arrive at Wishful Woodland, you’ll make your own elf name and the fun can begin!” says event organiser, Morag Zaric.

Visitors can decorate bag tags for the Foster Hope backpack tree, create snowflakes to add to our Wishful Woodland, and make gifts to give to their loved ones.

As well as this goodwill extravaganza, Capital E’s Central Cinema will be playing Christmas movies for only a gold coin donation, with all the money raised going straight to Foster Hope.

“You’ll love the movies on offer, and you’ll feel good knowing that you’re giving hope to children going into foster care.”

Wishful Woodland is free of charge and open 1 - 24 December. Drop in to E Central, 4 Queens Wharf, Mon to Sat from 9am-3pm. Central Cinema is entry by gold coin donation. For more information, visit capitale.org.nz or call 04 913 3740 and visitwww.fosterhope.co.nz for more information on the backpacks and contents that can be donated.
