Gold Medal Sweep for Adam Hall Ahead of First IPC World Cups of the Season

Winter Park, U.S.A (6 January 2015) – NZ Paralympian Adam Hall has made an encouraging start to 2015 collecting four gold medals at the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) races held at Winter Park in the USA from 4-6 January. Hall won medals in Giant Slalom, Super Combined and two Super-G races.

The IPC races come just ahead of the first IPC World Cups of the season, starting with this week’s event in La Molina, Spain. The IPC Alpine Skiing World Cup in La Molina starts on Thursday (8 January) with Slalom races and runs until 11 January.

The schedule originally included Giant Slalom races but had to be changed to Slalom only due to lack of snow.

NZ sit-skier Corey Peters is already in La Molina training for the World Cups. Peters, who won a silver medal in Giant Slalom at the Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi, says that while the change “doesn't really work in my favour as GS is my best event and Slalom is my weakest,” there is a positive side. “The plus is I have four opportunities to do well in the Slalom. We have made some good changes during training to improve my Slalom so it’s a good opportunity to see how it goes.”

The World Cups will also provide Hall and Peters with a performance benchmark as they prepare for the 2015 IPC Alpine Skiing World Championships which take place between 28 February and 10 March in Panorama, Canada.
