Cricket Wellington offers “name your price” entry deal
Cricket Wellington will implement a ‘name your price’ initiative for fans coming to the Firebirds’ final two Ford Trophy matches, at the Basin Reserve on Sunday 18 and Wednesday 21 January.
Chief Executive Peter Clinton said that the organisation was keen to attract as many fans along to the Basin, given that there were just two one-day matches left at the iconic venue this summer.
“We acknowledge that the summer holidays are coming to a close, and that families in particular will have Xmas bills and school costs coming up, so this is an idea aimed at attracting local fans down for their last taste of competitive one-day cricket at the Basin for this summer. We’re hopeful Wellingtonians will support this initiative.”
“Wellington fans will have Cricket World Cup matches at the Stadium to look forward to, but the Firebirds won’t be back at the Basin until next summer so this is a great opportunity to come down and enjoy the Basin and support the team. The Basin once again attracted great crowds and a special atmosphere during the recent NZ v Sri Lanka test match, and we’re enjoying the fact that so many cricket fans love coming along to the ground. It’s been great to see so many kids coming along in particular.”
Adult patrons will be able to enter on payment of a price of their own choosing, with a minimum fee of $2 in place. Kids will get free entry.
“Last season we implemented a ‘food can for charity’ donation for entry into Ford Trophy matches, and we’re again looking to engage with the community by making matches affordable and accessible. We get great support from the Wellington public and I’m confident that they’ll support the initiative.”
The normal price of admission was $10 for adults, $5 for children, and a family pass for $25.
