Global Game Jam is happening this weekend
Global Game Jam is happening this weekend - and there's a Sony PlayStation 4 up for grabs!
20th January 2015
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Global Game Jam 2015 is happening in countries all around the world this week, with the event kicking off in New Zealand at 5pm on Friday, 23rd January.
The Global Game Jam is a 48-hour game jam (or a gathering of game developers, artists, creators and enthusiasts) that takes place simultaneously around the world.
Each year, a theme is revealed at the beginning of the game jam and participants are asked to devise and create their own game – all within the span of two days!
This year there are only two Global Game Jam sites registered in New Zealand, with Auckland’s site set to once again be the biggest in the country.
The event is organised globally by the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) and will take place at Media Design School’s central Auckland campus from the 23rd – 25th January 2015.
In addition, Media Design School and Global Game Jam Auckland are delighted to announce that the following sponsors have come on board for 2015:
• Thank to our friends at Red Bull, Auckland’s Game Jam participants will receive a complimentary Red Bull to keep them caffeinated throughout the course of the weekend;
• Any Global Game Jam Auckland participant who submits a game will be gifted a complimentary 12-issue digital subscription to Indie Game Mag (IGM). Visit IGM's website to find out more about the various jam sites that IGM are sponsoring for 2015;
• The grand prize for the Auckland site of the Global Game Jam will be a shiny new PlayStation 4 and an assortment of PS4 titles, which have been generously donated by Sony PlayStation New Zealand! The Playstation 4 will be awarded to a member of the team that makes the greatest, most interesting game over the course of the weekend.
Registrations for the Global Game Jam Auckland are still open. Participants can sign up for the event by visiting http://globalgamejam.org/2015/jam-sites/media-design-school.
