Sport Wellington Buggy Walk heads to Paekakariki

Sport Wellington Buggy Walk heads to Paekakariki

Hundreds of buggies are set to take on the Kapiti Coast for Sport Wellington’s next monthly Buggy Walk. The walk will take place on Thursday, 5th February at Queen Elizabeth Park in Paekakariki.

Buggy Walks are a free event occurring on the first Thursday of every month. The walks occur at a different location every month and aim to provide parents and caregivers the opportunity to discover some of the many buggy friendly walking tracks throughout the Wellington region.

This month’s walk will start at MacKay’s Crossing and will take participants along Whareroa Stream, returning via the inland track. The walk is described as mostly flat with the majority on grass. Edged by a sandy beach, Queen Elizabeth Park is a popular spot for locals to enjoy swimming, fishing, walking, cycling, horse riding, picnics and group activities.

Event organiser, James King of Sport Wellington says they try to ensure the Buggy Walks visit a variety of areas throughout the Wellington region, with Januarys walk taking place in Wainuiomata and Decembers in Wilton.

“Our team is excited to head up the Kapiti Coast for our next Buggy Walk. This walk is unique in that it is close to the beach and has great scenic views of Kapiti Island” says King.

All Buggy Walks vary in length and difficulty but will usually take 45 – 60 minutes to complete. With no registration necessary, everyone is encouraged just to show up and take part. Participants can also take advantage of free Caffé L’affare coffee and a BBQ, courtesy of Southern Cross Restaurant and Bar.
