Clicquot celebrates a royal arrival at NZ Polo Open
Boasting major international wins and a British royal connection, captain of the England polo team, James Beim, has arrived in Auckland to compete in the NZ Polo Open as the official Veuve Clicquot player. The seven goaler brings a touch of British royalty to the tournament, having played alongside Prince Charles, William and Harry.
Beim is one of the highest ranked English players on the international circuit having won the Prince of Wales Cup, The Queens Cup at Guards and the Gold Cup, at just 22. Recently winning the ‘La Copa de Naciones’, (The Nations Cup) out in Argentina (2014), Beim’s team will be one to watch out for at the NZ Polo Open.
“I’ve been a professional player since I was 17 years old and have played with many talented people including members of the royal family. I feel honoured to have been chosen as the Veuve Clicquot player this year and am very much looking forward to a fast and furious tournament,” says Beim.
Now in its 48th year, the NZ Polo Open will see six teams compete for honours at Auckland Polo Club’s famous Clevedon Fisher Field. VIP guests of the luxury Veuve Clicquot tent can expect an unforgettable day complete with gourmet hors d’oeuvres created perfectly to pair with Veuve Clicquot champagne, chic lounge areas with premium views of the match and creative Clicquot surprises, guaranteed to entertain.
Ticketed guests can enjoy polo watching and picnicking from the Chukka Lawn, while enjoying gourmet food and sipping one of the world’s most prestigious champagnes, Veuve Clicquot, which will be available from special bars throughout the polo grounds.
Veuve Clicquot senior brand manager Rai Banbury says, "The polo is an important part of the Veuve Clicquot international social calendar. The NZ Polo Open gets bigger and more exciting every year and we look forward to bringing new Veuve Clicquot twists and lots of festive fun to our guests this year”.
