Sir Richard Hadlee gives Cricket World Cup Fantrail the thumbs up

The opening match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 New Zealand is only one day away and the best way to get there is via the official Fantrail that starts at the Fanzone in Victoria Square.

New Zealand cricketing icon Sir Richard Hadlee says cricket fans are in for a treat when they make their way along the Fantrail from Victoria Square to Hagley Oval.

"I'll be enjoying the Fantrail with the fans as they pass through the Botanic Gardens end of the Fantrail, well, a bronze bust of me will be enjoying it anyway."

"As fans experience all the fun and festivities on their way to the games from the Fanzone, the Fantrail will bring them through the beautiful Botanic Gardens here in Hagley Park. What a treat it will be for them to pass through this jewel in Christchurch's crown on their way to another treasure, Hagley Oval," says Sir Richard.

Situated at Victoria Square from Friday 13 - Monday 23 February, the Fanzone will be a hub for cricket fans of all ages. The Fantrail opens at9am on the three match days and takes you from Victoria Square, down Worcester Boulevard, past the historic Arts Centre and Canterbury Museum and through the beautiful Botanic Gardens to Hagley Oval.

Christchurch City Council Events Development Manager Richard Attwood says the Fantrail will be the place to be seen en route to the games during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 in Christchurch.

"The Fantrail will have music, performances and entertainment to ensure you are charged up and ready to cheer on your team at Hagley Oval."

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 New Zealand Fanzone and Fantrail details:
* The Fantrail from Victoria Square to Hagley Oval is open on match days from 9am.
* The Fanzone at Victoria Square is open Friday 13 - Monday 23 February 2015, between 9am-10.30pm (8am on match days).
* Fanzone entrance is free of charge.
* The Fanzone will feature food and beverage stands, live music, backyard cricket games, prize giveaways, family days, face-painting and movies.
* Live big-screen coverage of all the games from Hagley Oval is another Fanzone draw card
