Supports Announced for Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks’ New Zealand Tour

New Zealand are lucky to play host to songwriting maverick Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks next week, when the brains behind Pavement and his band will perform in Auckland, Wellington and Dunedin.

Effortlessly cool Malkmus and band are joined in Auckland and Wellington by intelligent indie-poppers Bunnies on Ponies, the deftly clever and sonically polished side project of Samuel Flynn Scott (The Phoenix Foundation). The Wellington show also features another member of The Phoenix Foundation, Luke Buda, performing with new band Teeth -- an understated super group of local gentlemen featuring Dave Long from the Mutton Birds and Anthony Donaldson from 6 Volts.

Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks bring their sixth studio album, 2014’s Wig Out at Jagbags to the stage. Playful, intelligent indie rock/pop music, Malkmus describes the album title as “a smeared aspersion, not profanity, but derived from one..... watered down for the airwaves, or the assembly line”.

In the world of Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, quality and music prevail, and these shows will be a treat to behold -- don’t miss out.
