Christchurch David Walliams Show Sells Out in 24 Hours
Due to huge demand, David Walliams’ appearance as part of WORD Christchurch’s Autumn Season on 14 May has sold out within 24 hours of going on sale. The popular children’s writer, comedian, actor and TV celebrity will appear live on stage at the Charles Luney Auditorium at St Margaret’s College, in a show especially for children and families, where he will chat about his books and read from his work, including his latest novels Awful Auntie and Demon Dentist.
“We knew David Walliams would be popular,” said WORD Christchurch Literary Director, “and once word got out it just snowballed. A lot of people have missed out, but the unfortunate reality of post-quake Christchurch is a lack of venues of a certain size. For those who have tickets, it will be an intimate and memorable show indeed. Children will remember it for the rest of their lives.”
Walliams will join esteemed British novelist David Mitchell, Guardian journalist Nick Davies, acclaimed Chinese author Xinran, award-winning H is for Hawk Helen Macdonald, and New Zealand journalist Steve Braunias, for a series of WORD Christchurch evening events from 12—17 May, presented in association with the Auckland Writers Festival. There are still plenty of tickets for other sessions.
The full WORD Christchurch Autumn Season programme will be available at libraries, bookstores and cafes, or online atwordchristchurch.co.nz.
