CHRIS PARKER in
NO MORE DANCING IN THE GOOD
ROOM
Directed by Jo Randerson
Chris is putting on one of his silly little shows. If it were 1999, he would be performing it in Mum’s “Good Room”, but she said his limbs are getting too long and he doesn’t have enough control over them. In fact, she’s banned him from dancing in the house altogether.
Infamous for Snort, Tight Whiteys, Girl Vs. Boy and Hauraki Horror Chris Parker débuts his first full length solo show in the 2015 New Zealand International Comedy Festival, directed by Jo Randerson. Parker returns to his roots with an autobiographical account of a young gay boy growing up in a liberal supportive family. Sound rough? With home videos, dance sequences and Parker's signature physical comedy style, No More Dancing In The Good Room promises to be a rollicking good time in Wellington 28 April–2 May and Auckland 5-9 May.
“Chris Parker (who will be the biggest
comedic star New Zealand has ever seen)”
- David
Farrier, TV3 on Hauraki Horror
Chris Parker has worked extensively throughout New Zealand, appearing in television, theatre and comedy. Highlights include three seasons of the popular TV2 teenage rom-com GIRL VS. BOY and a guest spot on the TV1 comedy AGENT ANNA. He also hosted the 2013/2014 AUCKLAND THEATRE AWARDS and is a core cast member of the award winning improv comedy show SNORT, which plays to sell out houses every Friday night at The Basement Theatre in Auckland.
As a writer and comedian Chris has co-created two sketch comedy shows for the New Zealand International Comedy Festival: OUTSIDERS' GUIDE and TIGHTY WHITEYS, and co-wrote and performed in the web series BACHELOR PAD with Thomas Sainsbury as well as The Basement Christmas Show HAURAKI HORROR in 2015. He was awarded the 2015 NZ International Comedy Festival – Creative Comedy Initiative grant for No More Dancing In The Good Room and most recently Chris was cast in Silo Theatre’s HUDSON & HALLS LIVE! - a live interactive show all about NZ TV cooking chefs Hudson and Halls – and has been writing for JONO AND BEN.
“I'm tempted to call it genius” - Nik Smythe, Theatreview on Tighty Whiteys
