Comedy reigns supreme at the American Express Queenstown
Winter Festival
April 28, Queenstown – With less than eight weeks to go before the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival kicks off, a trio of comedy events including the American Express Comedy Debate, Comedy Night and Wednesday Lates are confirmed to return to the programme.
Tickets are on sale from 4 May at 12pm, however American Express Card Members can purchase tickets from 9am today (Tuesday 28 April) through the American Express pre-sale.
The American Express Comedy Debate (Saturday 20 June, Queenstown Events Centre) will see a line-up featuring the likes of Paul Ego, Donna Brookbanks, Oliver Driver and Vaughan Smith debate the moot Adventure Should Be Dangerous. Jeremy Corbett set the moot himself, and plays the role of moderator.
American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Manager Lisa Buckingham says she hopes to build on the success from the American Express Comedy Debate that returned to the programme in 2014, and knows the handpicked line-up will appeal to a wide variety of audiences.
“Organising the comedy events for the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival programme is one of the favourite parts of my role because they provide such good entertainment! This year’s line-up for the American Express Comedy Debate is no different, all debaters come from different backgrounds and have very different styles, but are all equally witty and hilarious,” says Lisa.
The second dose of comedy comes in the form of Comedy Night (Tuesday 23 June, Queenstown Memorial Centre) which is MCed by award-winning Brendhan Lovegrove. Lovegrove is joined by Jamie Bowen, Tevita Manukia, Urzila Carlson and Jeremy Corbett.
With Tuesday’s Comedy Night always among the first to sell out, comedy-lovers who missed out on tickets will get a second chance to see Brendhan Lovegrove, Tevita Manukia and Jamie Bowen in a late-night, no-holds-barred session at Wednesday Lates (Wednesday 24 June, SKYCITY Queenstown Casino).
Tickets to the comedy trio – along with other events in the American Express Queenstown Winter Festival programme – will go on sale to the general public at 12pm May 4th. American Express Card Members can purchase theirs through the American Express Pre-sale, which starts today (Tuesday 28 April) at 9am.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.winterfestival.co.nz. The Queenstown i-Site and the Queenstown Events Centre are also ticket outlets.
