Atlantis Dream Headlines Pedigree Updates for Next Week’s Sale

New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale is fast approaching with black-type performers featuring prominently in many pedigrees and recent results adding strength to the catalogue. A highlight of the National Broodmare Sale is Lot 539 Contemplate (Dream Well), the dam of Atlantis Dream(Elusive City), winner the Group 2 Queen of the South Stakes in South Australia just last Saturday.

From Haunui Farm’s draft, Contemplate is by the Group 1 Irish Derby winner Dream Well and is out of a Group 3 winning mare Ascona(Grosvenor). A half-sister to two Listed placegetters Astaire (Groom Dancer) and Ascolini(Bertolini), she is believed to be in foal to Ferlax.

There are a number of well-related weanlings catalogued in the National Weanling Sale, many from current families that have black-type performers featuring prominently in their pedigrees.

• Lot 54 – A filly by Rip Van Winkle who is a half-sister to recent stakes placegetterSpectacular Vision (Mastercraftsman), out of a half-sister to dual Group 1 winnerGee I Jane (Jahafil), Group 3 winner Miss Jessie Jay (Spectacularphantom), who is the dam of Group 1 winners Banchee (Oratorio) and Katie Lee (Pins).
• Lot 61 – A colt by Nom du Jeu who is a half-brother to dual Group 1 winnerZavite (Zabeel) and is out of a half-sister to Group 2 winner Dancing (Spectrum). He is also from the same family as Hartnell (Authorzied), winner of the Group 1 BMW Stakes.
• Lot 91 – A filly by So You Think out of a winning mare who is a half-sister to multiple Group 1 winner El Segundo (Pins).
• Lot 98 – A colt by Tartan Bearer who is a half-brother to the Group 2 winner and winner of the HK-1 Hong Kong Classic Cup Thunder Fantasy (Lucky Owners). The dam Pink Pier is entered in the Sale at Lot 464.
• Lot 100 – A filly by Reset who is out of a half-sister to Critic (Centaine), winner of the Group 1 Otaki-Maori WFA Stakes, and is closely related to five-time Group 1 winner Ocean Park (Thorn Park) and Prince Kaapstad (Kaapstad), winner of the Group 1 Easter Handicap.
• Lot 101 – A filly by Pierro who is the first foal of stakes placegetter Presitigious Miss (Written Tycoon), runner-up in the Group 2 Hawke’s Bay Guineas and a half-sister to Group 3 winner Cassini (Reset).
• Lot 112 – A filly by Mastercraftsman who is a half-sister to this season’s winner of the Group 1 Futurity Stakes Suavito (Thorn Park).
• Lot 161 – A filly by Shocking who is a half-sister to Girlsarebackintown(Murtajill), placegetter in the Group 3 Taranaki 2YO Classic this season along with the Listed Champagne Stakes since the catalogue went to print.
• Lot 205 – A colt by Nadeem who is a half-brother to dual Group 1 winner Viadana(Towkay).
• Lot 216 – A filly by Tavistock out of a Zabeel mare who is a half-sister to Listed winner Single (High Chaparral) and stakes placegetters Ghayth (Sadler’s Wells) and Ego (Green Desert).
• Lot 248 – A filly by So You Think is out of a full-sister to Boys on Tour (General Nediym), runner-up in the Group 2 Pago Pago Stakes and is a half-sister to a dual Listed winner See The World (Danzero).
• Lot 314 – A colt by Ocean Park who is a half-brother to three stakes-winnersCrepe De Chine (Pins), Arenti (O’Reilly) and Glam Slam (Pins).

Highlights from the National Broodmare Sale include:

• Lot 431 – Lotteria (Redoute’s Choice), winner of the Group 1 Myer Classic. Believed to be in foal to Reliable Man.
• Lot 464 – Pink Pier (Galileo), the dam of Group 2 winner and winner of the HK-1 Hong Kong Classic Cup Thunder Fantasy (Lucky Owners). Believed to be in foal to Tartan Bearer.
• Lot 467 – Pulcinella (Stravinsky), winner of the Group 2 Avondale Guineas. Believed to be in foal to Cape Blanco.
• Lot 471 – Raise The Play (Defensive Play), the dam of Group 2 winner Bellini Rose (Faltaat).
• Lot 518 – Aroon (Volksraad), the dam of Take The Rap – St Rap (H.K.) (No Excuse Needed). Aroon is a half-sister to stakes-winner Keano (Pins) and is out of a three-quarter-sister to Group 1 winner Critic (Centaine) who is also a half-sister to New Zealand’s Champion sire O’Reilly (Last Tycoon). Believed to be in foal to Ocean Park.

Of the lots catalogued in the yearling, two-year-old, unraced stock and racehorse sections, one has won a stakes race and eight of them have stakes-winning dams or siblings, including:

• Lot 365 – A yearling by Bullbars out of a Group 2 winning mare Belle Femme(Zeditave).
• Lot 403 – Dancer’s Tale (Tale of the Cat) – Racehorse - the winner of the Listed Welcome Stakes as a two-year-old and winner of her most recent start.
• Lot 408 – Grant’s Girl (Librettist) – Racehorse – a full-sister to Listed winner Niki Piki Milo (Librettist).

A number of pedigree updates have taken place since the catalogue went to print. Some of the pedigree updates for the National Weanling Sale include:

• Lot 179 – A filly by Falkirk is from the same family as Consensus (Postponed), winner of the Listed New Zealand Bloodstock Airfreight Stakes and this year’s Southern Filly of the Year.
• Lot 200 – A filly by Rock ‘n’ Pop is a half-sister to Mission Well (Elusive City), winner of the Listed Macau Lisboa Prelude.
• Lot 224 – A filly by Alamosa is out of a sibling to Black Vanquish (Lonhro), recent winner of the Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes.
• Lot 233 – A colt by Thewayouare is closely related to Bohemian Lily (O’Reilly), recent winner of the Listed Gold Coast Bracelet. This colt is also closely related to Bohemian Lily’s siblings Shamrocker (O’Reilly) and Rock Diva (Lucky Unicorn), both Group 1 winners.
• Lot 341 – A filly by Showcasing is from the same family as Dylanson (Dylan Thomas), recent winner of the Listed City of Adelaide Handicap.
Pedigree updates for the National Broodmare Sale include:
• Lot 427 – Lion Blanc (Reset) is closely related to Kermadec (Teofilo), winner of the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap.
• Lot 446 – My Ideal (Istidaad) is closely related to Hartnell (Authorized), winner of the Group 1 BMW Stakes.
• Lot 450 – Night Fury (Keeninsky) is a full-sister to Iamishwara (Keeninsky), winner of the Group 1 Haunui Farm WFA Classic and most recently the Group 2 Awapuni Gold Cup.
• Lot 477 – Sade (Savabeel) is from the same family as Tremec (Zabeel), winner of the Group 2 Chairman’s Handicap this season, his second victory in the race.
• Lot 512 – Ace of Hearts (Van Nistelrooy) is from the same family as Able Friend(Shamardal), winner of the Group 1 Champions Mile.
• Lot 546 – Dane Edna (Danehill) is closely related to Gust Of Wind (Darci Brahma), winner of the Group 1 Australian Oaks.
• Lot 558 – Doduo (Danehill) is out of a half-sister to the dam of Pride Of Dubai(Street Cry), winner of the Group 1 Sires’ Produce Stakes.
• Lot 566 – Existential (Henrythenavigator) is out of a half-sister to the dam ofBlazing Speed (Dylan Thomas), winner of the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth ll Cup in Hong Kong recently.
• Lot 567 – Extra Celestial (Danehill Dancer) is a half-sister to Turbo Street(Encosta de Lago), recent runner-up in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas.

New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale is on11 – 13 May, commencing at 11am each day. The first and second day will be the selling of weanlings with yearlings, two-year-olds, unraced stock and racehorses selling in the latter part of Day 2. The third day is the selling of broodmares and stallion shares to conclude the Sale.
