Arapere will build a giant pou representing a tiki out of
cardboard for one of our galleries. Inspired by Māori
culture and street art, Rangimatua (Sky father), will be
adorned with felt pens to depict the creation myth of the
sons of Ranginui and Papatuanuku. Cut + Paste: The
Practice of Collage From
assemblages that stretch across the walls to fantasy worlds
sprouting from the floor, Cut + Paste showcases artists who
select and rearrange images and subjects to challenge the
way we see the world. Alphabet
Street 14 February 2015 – 17 May 2015 Featuring an
artwork for each letter of the alphabet, Alphabet Street is
a curious neighbourhood where families will use the letter

Wellington based Cuban duo Madera Fina,
featuring Roberto Rodriguez (guitar and vocals) and Rafael
Ferrer (bongo and vocals), will transport you back to Cuba
and back in time with their selection of authentic
traditional Cuban music from the 1930s–1950s including La
Nueva Trova, Son, Guaracha and Cha cha cha Cubano. Think
"Buena Vista Social Club" and you are there.

Mudlark is a
major survey exhibition by Bronwynne Cornish, one of New
Zealand’s most celebrated ceramic artists. Cornish was
born in Lower Hutt and has held close relationships with The
Dowse Art Museum over the years including having two
previous solo exhibitions here. The exhibition Mudlark
features sixty-nine works spanning over three decades of
making and includes one of our favourite collection items,
Home is Where the Heart is.
