Contact Creates Good Neighbourly Energy

Contact and New Zealand’s first free and private neighbourhood website, Neighbourly.co.nz, have announced a partnership today which will support people across New Zealand to build stronger and more connected communities.

Contact, whose philosophy is ‘be the neighbour you’d want to have’, is the fifth corporate partner for Neighbourly joining Spark, BP, The Warehouse and AMI. Support from partners contributes to the day-to-day running and ongoing development of the Neighbourly platform.

Nicholas Robinson, Contact Energy’s General Manager Corporate Affairs said that the Neighbourly approach to bringing communities together to foster safer and stronger communities aligned with Contact’s philosophy and vision.

“The partnership with Neighbourly is a natural fit for us. We may be a big company, but our philosophy is to operate with the same duty of care for our customers and communities as one of the smallest. This partnership will enable us to connect with people and communities all over New Zealand, and we are really excited by that,” says Mr Robinson.

Neighbourly.co.nz co-founder Casey Eden says Contact’s commitment to community is expressed through their sponsorship legacy.

“Contact proudly operates a successful employee volunteering programme and supports a wide range of community events that many New Zealanders, and undoubtedly Neighbourly members, participate in,” he says. “Partners provide the support for Neighbourly to continue to build amazing features like new Neighbourly Polls which Contact now directly sponsors.”

Neighbourly Polls are a fun and easy way for members and organisations to gather the opinions of neighbours on a particular topic.

Neighbourly.co.nz fosters interaction and conversation between neighbours and community organisations by creating an easy way for them to talk and share online through free and private websites for their suburbs. Since launching in June 2014, the site has grown to a membership of over 115,000 across 1,700 suburbs with over 10,000 new members joining every month.

Members use Neighbourly.co.nz to exchange recommendations on local services, ask questions and share advice, find employment, plan events, discuss local issues and get to know one another.
