American Express Queenstown Winter Festival Starts (19-28 June)
Tens of thousands of locals and visitors will take to Queenstown streets and ski slopes for the Southern Hemisphere's biggest winter party, to celebrate the official start to winter.
It's a 10 day celebration of Queenstown's unique culture and community with street parties, fireworks, international and local acts, comedy, family fun, and plenty of Mountain Mayhem.

Night Ski starts – UE Boom Night Ski

The day doesn’t have to end at 4pm. On Friday and Saturday night the Coronet Express and the Meadows Express stay open until 9pm. Enjoy some runs under lights, grab a pizza from the restaurant and sit around one of the braziers on the deck. What a great end to the day. This year Coronet Peak kicks off Night Ski with the UE Boom Night Ski event, part of Winter Festival


Monday June 29
First Tracks starts

Here’s one for you intrepid early risers. Get your boots on before the sun bursts over the peaks and as well as a stunning sunrise you’ll get your pick of the first runs down. There’s nothing quite like being the first on the smooth groomed corduroy or making fresh tracks in the new snow.

(First tracks pass must be purchased in conjunction with a valid day lift pass at Coronet Peak)

Kids Day Out
Kids rule the Peak all day with plenty of free activities, entertainment and games for the kids to enjoy.

Saturday July 18
Junior Interfield Competition

This event is the first stop in the Southern Lakes Interfield series. Interfield racing is designed to introduce young athletes, from 8 to 16 years, to alpine events and competitions such as GS (Giant Slalom), SL (Slalom) and combined GS/SL Kombi race events. Athletes ski the course twice and it's their combined times that are recorded and ranked.

Tuesday July 21
Winter Classic Series –Race 1

This long standing and very popular Tuesday race series has categories for ski/board/tele, male/female and mixed teams. Great sponsors, terrific atmosphere and a prize giving at after each race at a bar downtown makes this a weekly highlight for many Queenstown locals. Join as a team or come along to sign up day on Sunday July 19 (venue and time TBA) and we’ll find a team for you to race in through the season.
The Winter Classic is an iconic recreational race series that has all levels competing so make sure you don’t miss out. Once you get in that start gate you’ll be addicted!

King of Coronet
Who will be crowned this year’s King of Coronet, will it be you? The race starts Le Mans style with 100m sprint followed by a 2.6km speed race down the M1.

NZ Skiing Masters
Masters Skiing is a great opportunity for anyone to participate in ski racing. Come and participate in the only Downhill in New Zealand along with a Giant Slalom and a Slalom. It’s a great way to meet new people, compete and have a great time in the mountains. There is the chance to get some prior training in the gates to get comfortable through our 5 Star Trainers and Coaches here at Coronet Peak. Competitors range from the elite ex-racers to those that just 'want to give it a go'.

Saturday August 1
Peak to Peak

A winter Multisport event for Individuals and teams. The race starts high on the Remarkables ski field with a 2km ski or snow board down to the Remarkables access road. An exhilarating 17km mountain bike down the road takes competitors to the edge of Lake Wakatipu in Frankton for a 7km paddle into Queenstown bay. From downtown Queenstown the final two race stages are a 9km run to Coronet Alpine Hotel and then a 9km bike ride up to the finish line at Coronet Peak. This event is great for aspiring Multi Sporters to test themselves against the best or a team to participate and have a lot of Fun.

Battle of the Basin

This is no ordinary day at School. Budding young skiers and snowboarders from Wakatipu primary schools can get a taste of competitive ski racing.

Held under official race rules kids compete as a team representing their local school. This is a fun day out aimed demystifying competitive racing for youngsters who have never given it a go before.

Sunday August 9 – Wednesday August 12
Nationals and Coronet Cup SL and GS
The NZ Alpine National Championships continue to run at Coronet Peak. The races bring prestige, talent and not to mention big fields to Coronet Peak to compete for the New Zealand title.

Friday August 14
Fireman’s Challenge K2 and Chillfactor

Local and national firefighters take on the ‘chill factor’ at Coronet Peak with a unique charity fundraiser.
Firefighting teams compete to complete the most number of sponsored runs down the main M1 Trail between 8am and 10am.
The ‘challenge’ factor comes in with the fact that each four-member team has to hold onto a fire hose on the way down.

NZYS

The New Zealand Youth Series is for aspiring ski racers from 14 – 18 years. This series is designed to provide athletes with a pathway and experience to develop onto FIS or international racing and beyond.

The biannual Winter Games is the ultimate testing ground where elite athletes can experiment and explore performance limits against world-class competition. Coronet Peak will see the superstars of alpine skiing compete in Slalom and Giant Slalom.

FIS (International Ski Federation) & ANC (Australia New Zealand Cup) events are the highest levels of alpine competition in New Zealand, Coronet Peak plays host to the Slalom and Giant Slalom events.

Night ski finishes

Last chance to get up to Coronet Peak for some skiing or riding under lights. Lifts stop turning for 2015 night ski at 9pm on Saturday night.
