Saturday 20 June – When fire destroyed the studios of Northland’s Tautoko FM in Mangamuka Bridge last month, the rest of the iwi radio whanau offered help and support for them to get back on air. Next Friday the stations will network a live concert, Tautoko Tautoko, from the Black Note music venue in Tamaki Makaurau. In Kia Korero Mai Ki Ahau this week we talk to Radio Tautoko co - founder and chair Hori Chapman on how the rebuild is progressing and how the whanau and the community are faring.

Just one in five children who attend kohanga reo go on to kura kaupapa or kura a iwi. Maori educationalist Pem Bird, who retired from his job teaching teachers to set up and now runs a kura in his hau kainga at Murupara, TeKura Kaupapa Motuhake o Tawhiuau. Pem talks with Eruera Morgan about what can be done to keep tamariki mokopuna progressing through the stages of Maori medium education.
