NZL Sailing Team Updates; Nacra 17 Worlds and 49er & FX Europeans

Nacra 17 World Championships

New Zealand’s mixed multihull pair Gemma Jones and Jason Saunders have climbed to 5th overall on day four of the 2015 Nacra 17 World Championships on in Aarhus, Denmark.

Sailors endured a long day with attempted racing proving fruitless in the morning, returning ashore while winds on the course area settled enough for racing to get underway, which finally happened late in the day around 7pm. Only the gold fleet sailed, but they managed to squeeze in three finals races.

Jones and Saunders keep a 7, a 19 and a 5 from today. On a day where many struggled this was enough to see the kiwis improve overall and place them among the top five of the fleet.

Billy Besson and Marie Riou of France have the overall lead.

With two days of racing remaining in Aarhus, the title will be decided on Friday.
