In 2014 the recipient of the National Research Grant was Douglas Lloyd Jenkins – who utilised the Auckland Museum Library to research a biography of the early twentieth century Auckland photographer Arthur Breckon. Douglas Lloyd Jenkins said "My period in the Auckland Museum Library has given me a wonderful opportunity for immersive research - that is to lose myself in the wealth of material on offer. It has given me an understanding of Arthur’s Breckon’s thinking as a photographer that could not have been achieved by sporadic short visits.”
The Auckland Museum Library is one of New Zealand’s major research libraries. The depth of material available is highly valued throughout New Zealand and internationally.
Membership of the NZ Society of Authors PEN Inc is open to all budding and established writers. You can find out more at www.authors.org.nz
