The Mercedes-Benz Presents Kate Sylvester show closed a successful first day at 2015 New Zealand Fashion Week.
Kate Sylvester is one of New Zealand’s most iconic designers and her brand new autumn/winter 2016 collection premiered as ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents Kate Sylvester’. This exclusive runway show in conjunction with Mercedes-Benz, featured as the debut evening show at 2015 New Zealand Fashion Week.
The Mercedes-Benz brand has become synonymous with global fashion, following two decades of commitment to the international fashion industry. The brand’s partnership with New Zealand’s premier fashion event builds on the success of fashion events in more than 30 countries, including the title sponsorship of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Weeks in Berlin, Sydney, Madrid and Tokyo, as well as major sponsorship of Fashion Weeks in Paris, London and Milan.
The ‘Mercedes-Benz Presents’ accolade is a global initiative which recognises designers who demonstrate dedication to the use of high quality materials, innovative design and unique style. Kate Sylvester joins esteemed previous recipients including designers such as Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Badgely Mischka and Dame Trelise Cooper.

The 2015 New Zealand Fashion Week started in a burst of colour at the twenty-seven names show despite the stormy Auckland day. Kicking off the schedule with an unexpected twist, guests were led through the tent to a catwalk on the wharf outside.

The New Generation Show with Jordan Holiday, Slaeve and Third Form showcased the wealth of emerging talent entering the fashion industry. The designers skillfully layered a monochrome palette with bold contrasting prints.
