New Zealand Ultimate Names Team to Compete in the Mixed Division at the World Ultimate Championships 2016
New Zealand Ultimate is excited to announce the New Zealand Mixed team that will compete at the 2016 World Ultimate Championships to be held from 18 to 25 June 2016 in London, England.
The 2016 event will mark the first time since 2004 that New Zealand will send a team in the mixed division. The 2004 team won bronze at the World Championships in Turku, Finland and New Zealand then sent separate men’s and women’s teams to the 2008 and 2012 world championships.
Next year New Zealand will send teams in all five divisions (Men’s, Women’s, Mixed, Open Masters and Women’s Masters) for the first time.
Coach Stephen Brown and his fellow selectors have picked a team of players with strong backgrounds in mixed Ultimate. The players come from all over the country with Auckland, Hamilton, Taupo, Wellington and Christchurch represented while two New Zealanders playing in the USA and one playing in the UK add some international experience to the team.
