Scott Base give a massive shout-out to the mighty All Blacks
The Rugby World Cup final is taking place more than 17,000km away but the All Blacks have strong support from one of the most southern locations on the planet – Scott Base, Antarctica.
Some of New Zealand’s top climate change scientists and a talented team of Antarctica New Zealand support staff will be waking early on Sunday morning to in hope of watching the big match between the mighty All Blacks and the Aussies.
“Our team at Scott Base have been listening to Rugby World Cup matches live via radio in the build up to the final, BUT it’s still unknown if they will get to see the big game live as internet and satellite capabilities are pretty limited in Antarctica!” says Antarctica New Zealand General Manager Communications Jeanine Begg.
“We have a committed team of tech experts thinking of cunning ways to make this possible but the chances are slim, radio may be the only option again.”
