Cancel Your Sky Subscription Competition Winner Announced

Winning entry in Cancel Your Sky Subscription Competition announced

Over the last three weeks, Throng.co.nz, New Zealand's leading television commentary website, has been offering those who have said they'd be "ditching Sky after the Rugby World Cup" the opportunity to put their words into action and submit their cancellation letter as entry in a competition to win 12 months of free subscriptions to Netflix and Lightbox.

Today, the winning entry has been announced. http://www.throng.co.nz/2015/11/winner-of-our-cancel-sky-and-win-competition-announced/

From the hundreds of entries, there were a number of themes which portrayed a subscriber base that was unhappy with the price, the amount of advertising for a subscription service and particularly, the free offers and bribes made to entice new customers while existing customers, some of whom stated had been with the company since it began, had been offered nothing.

There were also a large number of quite long rants, with one pushing a thousand words.

"It would appear that there are a lot of disgruntled Sky subscribers who have followed through on their threats to abandon the pay TV service at the conclusion of the Rugby World Cup" Throng editor, Regan Cunliffe said.

"The passion that was on display in many of the entries not only shows just how much New Zealanders love television but also how we feel when we don't believe we're being given a fair deal."
