Smales Farm launches Outdoor Movie Season for this Summer

A green, urban space established with people in mind, Smales Farm on Auckland’s North Shore is the ideal spot to enjoy the benefits of good weather and long evenings as we step into summer. Get ready to enjoy a fantastic, free outdoor experience with the Smales Farm Outdoor Movie Season.

There’s nothing more pleasant than enjoying a great movie from the vantage of a grassy picnic spot, surrounded by friends, family and delicious food on a warm evening. The Smales Farm Outdoor Movie Season presents four inspired evenings of shared cinema, starting on Saturday 12th December with the family Christmas classic, Home Alone.

A festive community event for families, friends, neighbours and colleagues to enjoy, Smales Farm is an ideal space in which to spend your Saturday evening. Come early to settle into a spot on the grass. Smales Farm is easy to get to; with plenty of carparks, ready access to public transport and walkways designed with people - not traffic - in mind. You’ll also enjoy a selection of curated food vendors courtesy of Food Space, a regular congregation of Auckland’s best-loved mobile food vendors from around the city’s various cultures and communities. On offer will be diverse a range of food and drink options from Food Space and also from Smales Farm hospitality outlets, before the film starts at7.30pm.

As a special Christmas screening, Home Alone will be followed by a unique and enchanting Christmas Lights illumination across Smales Farm - a spirited and fun end to a Christmas evening for young and old alike.

Come February, the Smales Farm Outdoor Movie Season will re-commence with a string of hit animated family movies, all with an earlier screening time of 5.00pm. The first of three is Finding Nemo commencing on Saturday 13th February, which is followed by the hugely popular Frozen on Saturday 20th February. The Season rounds off on Saturday 27th February with Despicable Me. Again, each evening will be complemented by a tempting range of hot and cold food and drink vendors thanks to Food Space from 3.00pm onwards and the Smales Farm hospitality outlets will be open also. You won’t want to miss these delightful evenings of fun films, delectable food, family and friends enjoyed in the relaxed open air of Smales Farm.
