AUCKLAND LIVE presents
Briefs: the Second Coming

Brace yourself for the cabaret show that has been described as Aussie Cirque du Soleil meetsRu Paul’s Drag Race, BRIEFS: The Second Coming. This hilarious, unmissable circus sensation from Briefs Factory comes to the ASB Theatre, Aotea Centre from 17 –20 Februaryfor Auckland Pride!

An all-male, sharp shooting cabaret, BRIEFS is a madcap circus safari of extravagant “boylesque” with valiant aerial acrobatics, irreverent interludes, ferocious fanfares and show-stopping drag artistes. ‘A sickeningly delicious, beautifully executed feast for the senses. Sexy. Funny. Dangerous.’ - So So Gay UK

Six Aussies and one New Yorker mix up a riotous blend of drag, glamour and athleticism, infused with dancing, tumbling, juggling, acro-balancing, trapeze, hula hooping, lip-syncing, sequins, feathers and frocks.

BRIEFS is led by the brazen beauty Shivannah (Fez Faanana, New Zealand-born Samoan) with a feline prowess. Captain Kidd, the ripped god of bathing, crowned the 2011 Las Vegas King of Burlesque, splashes and sprays the audience from his bird bath, while the ferocious Dallas Dellaforce brings dynamic drag to a new level as Australia’s queen of avant-garde performance art. Mesmerising contortionist, hand balancer and aerial hoop expertThomas Worrell will literally tie himself in knots for you; New York City’s sexiest acrobatic burlesque legend Evil Hate Monkey escaped the zoo to dazzle with his award winning banana ballet; and fresh-faced circus brats Lachy Shelley (from Circa Zoo and Flipside) and Louis Biggs (from Fruit Fly Circus) will melt hearts and have the audience gagging for more.

BRIEFS was spawned in the back warehouse space of a bookshop in Brisbane’s West End in 2008. A string of club nights as part of the Brisbane Festival led to a run at Adelaide Fringe and from there they took off and never looked back. They've spent the last year glitter bombing the globe, from London and Berlin to Edinburgh, Paris and Glastonbury. Highlights include an invitation from celebrity comedian John Bishop to take part in his prime-time BBC1 show, residency at Berlin’s legendary Tipi am Kanzleramt, a mega season at the London Wonderground, and now they're on their way to Auckland, for four nights only.

Make sure you come early and head to Box Café and Bar on the sunny terrace of the Aotea Centre – each night Auckland Live has a glittering array of musical stars and fabulous-ness happening before the show.

So rally your girl squad, doll up your hens, spray tan your boys and let’s get the party started as the BRIEFS kings and queens present burlesque... with balls!
