Big Angry Fish day out
Taranaki fisherman Glenn Hooper is the winner of the Big Angry Fish/Maritime NZ life jacket video competition, for his quirky piece capturing him and friend Logan fishing from their kayaks.
The pair will join Milan and Nathan from the popular TV3 fishing show Big Angry Fish for a day out on the water. As keen fans of the show, Glenn says they are looking forward to an opportunity to pick up some fishing tips from the experts.
A car groomer from New Plymouth , Glenn has just recently started kayak-fishing, after tiring of “snags” when casting his line from rocks. Logan is a bio-security officer for the Ministry for Primary Industries, and is a seasoned and successful fisherman who is teaching Glenn ‘the ropes’.
The pair are very safety-conscious and always wear their life jackets when on New Plymouth harbour off Ngamotu Beach. They have put UHF two-way radios on their Christmas wish-list, and are looking forward to testing out what Santa delivers!
A wide range of ages took part in the competition, to make a one-minute video showing “you and your mates on the water fishing, with everyone on board wearing a properly fitted lifejacket”. Maritime NZ’s catch-phrase “Get it on or it’s no good” had to be included.
The Big Angry Fish team is sponsoring the winning prize of a day’s fishing for two with Milan and Nathan, while Maritime NZ is sponsoring the cost of return travel to the fishing location.
