December 22, 2015 Auckland, New Zealand
KIWA, a world leading production house for experiential digital books, is delivering Sesame Street stories to mobile devices in multiple languages in an international publishing and licensing agreement with Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organization.
The partnership brings the iconic children’s characters Elmo, Cookie Monster, and their furry friends to life digitally in four new languages. The stories, aimed at two to five year olds, will be available in Korean, Japanese, Mandarin and Bahasa Malay.
The first e-books to launch, ‘Bubbles, Bubbles’, ‘Getting Ready for School: Colors’, ‘My First Trip to the Farm’, ‘123 Count with Me’, ‘Elmo Loves You’, ‘My First Instrument’, ‘Tummies’, ‘Zoe’s First Book of Seasons’, and ‘Elmo’s Christmas Countdown’ are now published in the Korean language. The e-books are available on Google Play and iBooks, with further e-taliers to follow.
All books include features such as synched text and audio narration where children can follow along.
Celia Musikant, Director International Media Distribution at Sesame Workshop, says “We are thrilled to extend the laughter and learning of Sesame Street to more children and families around the world. KIWA’s technical capability in multiple languages allows us to share stories about getting ready for school and learning to count from 1-10 with friends. Presenting these stories in local languages and a compelling, interactive format resonates strongly with our young readers.”
Steven Renata, Global Business Development Director of KIWA, says “We are delighted to work with Sesame Workshop in Korea and other international markets. With these new local language e-books we increase the range of language resources for parents and teachers while increasing the utilisation of Sesame Workshop’s valuable content.”
