Equestrian super stars will roll into Albany, Auckland on January 30-31st to compete in the Harcourts Cooper and Co Show Jumping Classic, a highlight on the equestrian calendar. The show run by JT Sporthorse’s Jaime Campbell and Travis Morgan will allow Aucklanders to get up close to see these equestrian super stars and will fundraise for the NZ Arthritis charity, a condition that Jaime’s sister suffers from.
The show will be a family affair being run at Jaime’s family farm and sister Jana Campbell will also be flying in from Melbourne for the event. ‘My sister has suffered from psoriasis arthritis for several years and it was her idea to run the charity auction this year for the New Zealand Arthritis Foundation’ says Jaime Campbell, aged 28 ‘I’ve seen the struggles she has to deal with and we both want to help others that suffer from this condition.’ Standing behind the team and supporting the charity at the show is also top Para Olympian Dressage rider Rachel Stock and top show jumping riders Chloe Akers and Bridget Van Gessel all who have been effected by Arthritis. Jaime Campbell says ‘Everyday life let alone riding is a struggle for these women but it is the love and joy of horses that makes them smile. We hope with this money we raise Arthritis NZ can use the money to help improve people’s lives that are affected by Arthritis.’ Over the last years JT Sporthorses has raised over $20,000 for charities and hopes this show will push the target to nearly $30,000.
The show is a stand out from other shows with its unique set up where spectators sit centimeters away from the main arena giving the show an intense and up close atmosphere. Riders will compete from grass root levels of 90cm through to the 1.35m Grand Prix Classic class with over $8000 in prize money and awards up for grabs. Also special to the show is the ISpyHorses Grand Slam Title which is to be awarded to the highest scoring combination in all three JT Sporthorse shows. This show will be the second of the summer series. Currently leading is top NZ show jumper Vicki Wilson from “Keeping up with the Kaimanawas” TV series. In second place is Grant Daltons daughter 14 year old Olivia Dalton, who is holding her own against the big guns and Olympian Katie Laurie is currently tied for third place.
