Three weeks until 2016 Volvo Sailing and Boating Week

With the start of 2016 Volvo Sailing and Boating Week just over three weeks away yachting and boating clubs around New Zealand are gearing up to welcome in the public, and to showcase and celebrate our sport.

The nationwide initiative kicks off on Saturday 13th February and runs until Sunday 21st February with participating clubs offering activities throughout the week, or on a single day.

Because each club designs its own Volvo Sailing and Boating Week activity, offerings around the country vary from public open days, club house tours, and family friendly barbeques, to try sailing and boating opportunities on all manner of boats, dinghies, boards and more!

Public can find out what’s on at the local club by visiting the Volvo Sailing and Boating Week – what’s happening and where webpage. Head to yachtingnz.org.nz and click the homepage link.

First launched in 2014, Yachting New Zealand expects 2016 Volvo Sailing and Boating Week to be every bit as successful as the two previous editions which saw dozens of clubs taking part, plenty of local and national media attention, and newcomers giving sailing and boating a go around New Zealand.

David Abercrombie, Yachting New Zealand Chief Executive says; “With three weeks to go we’re seeing more and more clubs registering to take part again, and we’re adding to the list of what’s happening and where every day. There are some great activities planned and there will be plenty of opportunities for the general public to give sailing a go in all manner of boats and boards - big and small.”

“I’d like to encourage anyone who is interested, to find out where their local Volvo Sailing and Boating Week registered Club is and get along.”

More clubs are expected to get on board and take part in Volvo Sailing and Boating Week and public are encouraged to keep checking event mini-site or to phone the local club directly and ask about Volvo Sailing and Boating Week in your area.
