Thinking of refugees on Holocaust Remembrance Day
Thinking of refugees on Holocaust Remembrance Day
On Holocaust Remembrance Day, Mayor Celia Wade-Brown made a strong link between awareness of the Holocaust and the refugees in Europe seventy years later.
She called on Wellingtonians and New Zealanders to welcome more refugees here and connect them with their local communities and neighbourhoods.
Mayor Wade-Brown is an Executive Mayor for Peace and Holocaust Remembrance Day is a significant day in the capital's calendar.
The Mayor’s speech at the Holocaust Memorial and introduction to Gitta Rupp’s refugee talk are available online.
