New to Dunedin – Poptagon events
New to Dunedin – Poptagon events
Dunedin (Thursday, 4 February 2016) – Coming to the Octagon near you is Poptagon – a variety of free, family events showcasing Dunedin’s talented and creative community.
Poptagon events will make the most of the communal space in the Octagon for Dunedin’s residents and visitors, boosting the vibrancy and attractiveness of the city centre as a fun space for people to gather and share new experiences. The events will also promote local creative talent and provide a platform for performers to connect with the community, and in some cases give viewers a taster to upcoming shows.
DCC Events Special Projects Co-ordinator, Tammy Jackman says these events aim to bring people into the heart of the city during the day, creating a buzz and atmosphere.
“Events are an important part of Dunedin's city life allowing visitors and residents to feel connected, and to celebrate our city as a unique and special place.”
We’ve listened to feedback from members of the community through the People’s Panel, which indicated a number of residents wanted the inner city space to be used more regularly for events, so we’ve designed this programme to make that happen,” says Ms Jackman.
“These events offer something for everyone from inner city workers to students, retirees and parents and their children.”
