2016 NZSO-RNZ Concert-SOUNZ Recordings
The works selected for the 2016 NZSO-RNZ
Concert-SOUNZ Recordings project will be rehearsed and
recorded over the week beginning 8 February at
Wellington’s Michael Fowler Centre. Each work will be
performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra, conducted
by Hamish McKeich, and recorded by Radio New Zealand Concert
to create up to 60 minutes of high quality NZ orchestral
recordings.
The following composers' scores were selected from submissions received from SOUNZ composers last year:
Salina Fisher: Rainphase
Brad Jenkins: The Way Out is Through
Patrick Shepherd: Lithosphere (Movement II)
Alex Taylor: bassoon concerto
James Wade: Te Matua Ngahere
This key SOUNZ project, in partnership with the NZSO and RNZ Concert, produces new recordings of orchestral music for public broadcast and online streaming. The project will also deliver a concert for invited guests to promote the works to a range of orchestras and broadcasters.
