Flick Electric Co. Comedy
Gala
Hosted by Rhys
Darby
We’re stoked to announce that the
2016 NZ International Comedy Festival will
be powered by Flick Electric Co. as
our new major sponsor. We launch into high-voltage hilarity
with theFlick Electric Co. Comedy Gala live
at ASB Theatre on Friday 22 April with an electrifying
line-up of what’s to come over the next three weeks of
Festival madness.
This year our very own Rhys Darby will step up to the mic to host a bevy of top class local and international comedians that are turning it on for the 24th annual Comedy Fest season.
Much loved as Murray from HBO’s Flight of the Conchords, Rhys has most recently been making headlines for his performance in The X Files. A veteran of twenty years as a stand-up comedian, Darby made his feature film debut in Yes Man. He went on to star in films like The Boat that Rocked (Pirate Radio), Lovebirds and Coming and Going. He also starred as alpha male Werewolf in Taika Waititi’s What we do in the Shadows, and Anton in Sundance hit Hunt for the Wilderpeople. A new film, Killing Hasselhoff is also coming out soon.
Joining Rhys live at ASB Theatre at the Flick Electric Co. Comedy Gala is a riotous bunch of exceptional comics including crowd favourite Arj Barker (USA), Australia’s Felicity Ward, triple j breakfast host & Aria Award winner Matt Okine, Kiwi fave Urzila Carlson & more to be announced.
Filmed for TV3, this will be an unforgettable night of fast-paced comedy, showcasing the stellar array of comedians at this year’s Fest. Always a hit, people are advised to get in early to secure the best seats for this roller-coaster of comedy gold.
