Get Inspired by Seaweek 2016 Competitions
NZAEE Seaweek is delighted to
announce three national competitions for Seaweek 2016 with
some fantastic prizes up for grabs sponsored by
Hauraki Blue Cruises, Young Ocean Explorers, New
Zealand Geographic and Pro Photographer, during New
Zealand’s annual, national week about the
sea.
The theme for this year’s Seaweek, which
runs from Saturday 27 February to Sunday 6 March 2016, is
“Toiora te Moana - Toiora te Tangata, Healthy
Seas - Healthy People”.
The Seaweek
theme is the inspiration for the idea behind all 3
competitions. The first is a national children’s
poetry competition, where entrants are asked to
write a Haiku 3 line poem inspired by the Seaweek 2016 theme
and illustrate it with a photograph. Email entries with your
age and contact details to mels@subliminal.co.nz. Image must be
attached to the email in JPG format with the poem text
separate from the image in the email.
There are 2
categories: Age 10 and under and Age 11-16.
1st prize in both categories will be a Young Ocean Explorers branded mask & snorkel set, plus the Young Ocean Explorers book & DVD.
The Haiku competition judge will be widely
published and performed Pacifica poet Doug Poole, who edits
the Blackmail Press Poetry Journal and produced POLYNATION
that headlined at literary festivals in Australia and New
Zealand in 2008.
The second competition is an
Instagram photographic competition - Sea Me: How
Seaweek Inspires Me, open to all ages. Follow @nzaeeseaweek on Instagram and post a photo and caption
(20 words max) that illustrates what you and your
school/group/organisation/family or whanau are doing to help
keep our seas healthy for all. This includes learning about
and experiencing your local coastal environment. You must
tag your photos #seaweek2016
#healthyseashealthypeople
Entries will be shared on
Seaweek's Facebook and Twitter feeds as well as
Instagram.
1st Prize - New Zealand Geographic & Pro Photographer Subscription plus random spot prizes.
The third competition is Design a
Doodle4Seaweek based on the Seaweek logo and the
theme "Toiora te Moana - Toiora te Tangata, Healthy
Seas - Healthy People". Get inspiration from the winners of
the doodle4google competition

Download the entry form from the Seaweek website
at http://seaweek.org.nz/competitions/
Entries must be emailed to mels@subliminal.co.nz & we will post a
daily "winner" on Facebook and select an overall winner in
each of two categories.

1st Prize (Adult) - overnight cruise for 2 on Hauraki Blue Cruises worth $598 (travel costs to Auckland at own expense).
Full details for all competitions, which
open for entries on Monday 22 February, can be found on the
NZAEE Seaweek website at seaweek.org.nz along with a national
events programme that has grown to around 150 events around
the country.
Early voting in the Seaweek 2016 Ocean
Champion competition has been intense and with two weeks
still to go there’s no clear winner from the 7 nominees.

February. The winner will be awarded $500 donated by the New
Zealand Coastal Society.
