Michael Venus Captures Third ATP Tour Title of 2016
The impressive year for Kiwi Number One Michael Venus has continued overnight capturing his third ATP Tour title of 2016 alongside Croatian Doubles Partner Mate Pavic. The pair, who were seeded second for the event beat the experienced partnership of Johnathan Elrich and Colin Fleming 62 63 in the final.
It has been a stellar start to 2016 for Venus and Pavic. After winning the ASB Classic title in Auckland in January, they have gone on to capture Montpellier and now the Marseille trophies. The latest result propels them to the ninth best doubles team for the Race to London standings (the season ending Tour Final’s).
Venus was ecstatic with the result “It is really exciting to win our 3rd ATP Title of the year. It all started in Auckland and to be able to continue playing this way in France has been great. Hopefully it continues.
The win means Venus will move to a career high ranking inside the World’s top 40 when the updated rankings are released on Monday.
