and brilliant”

Due to popular demand, the Anthony Harper Auckland season of POP-UP GLOBE has been extended.
New dates are on sale today (7am) for the final week of performances of TWELFTH NIGHT and ROMEO AND JULIET – a celebratory week that includes the 400th anniversary of the greatest playwright in history’s death on 23 April. It is also believed that he was born on or near the same date -- 52 years earlier -- so this will be an extraordinary week of celebrations at Pop-up Globe.
Tickets are available from Eventfinda but fans are urged to move quickly to avoid disappointment. This week will sell out.
“We have been absolutely thrilled by the response POP-UP GLOBE has received from New Zealand audiences,” says artistic director Dr Miles Gregory.
“We couldn’t have dreamed of such a wonderful response. Over 50,000 tickets sold and the demand for more is astonishing."
POP-UP GLOBE is the world’s first full-scale working replica of the second Globe theatre, Shakespeare’s Theatre. Built in Greys Avenue in the heart of Auckland’s cultural precinct, the city has embraced it as one of the hottest tickets in town.
“A thrilling theatre experience” Theatreview
Groundlings
At Pop-up Globe, as in Shakespeare’s
time, the area just in front of the stage was the most
raucous place to be. With the actors only metres away and
interacting directly with the
Groundlings, you can get up
close and personal for only $15! You can even get $10
Groundling tickets on the door for every show, subject to
availability.
Lords & Gentlemen’s Rooms
If
you’re looking for a magical and unique experience, these
are the most unusual seats in the house, book one of our
Lords’ or Gentlemen’s Rooms to watch the show from your
own private
room overlooking the theatre and
stage.
The Lords’ and Gentlemen’s Rooms at the second
Globe Theatre were the private rooms reserved for the
aristocrats and gentry. Here they would entertain their
friends and watch the show from
the most visible place in
the theatre. Do exactly that at Pop-up Globe.
At-seat
catering and drinks service is provided by Church Road and
Collective for up to six guests.
To Eat &
Drink
Shakespeare’s plays are littered with lines about
food and drink. So it’s only fitting that one of New
Zealand’s best-loved wineries, Church Road — itself
steeped in history — is the toast of the hottest
entertainment event in Auckland.
Church Road Winery has
created a bespoke Wine Bar onsite at Pop-up Globe and are
serving their multi-award winning, Church Road McDonald
Series range of wines.
Before heading in to Pop-up Globe
to see a play (or at the intermission), soak up the vibe,
check out the cityscape basking in the sunset and give a
toast to the winery and the playwright who
have made such
fabulous contributions to our world.
Food is also
available from the McDonald Series Wine Bar as is catering
for the Lords and Gentlemens rooms.
Pop-up Globe is proud
to partner with Functions & Events, managers of the Church
Road McDonald Series Wine Bar at Pop-up Globe, and
Collective Hospitality, Pop-up Globe’s fine
caterers.
