G A M E S H A R K - "Arson"

G A M E S H A R K - "Arson"

Glitch nightmare released ahead of full length work, "G A M E 3", due April 22nd 2016.

Hailing from the coldest recesses of Norway, EDM artist G A M E S H A R K has armed themselves with a host of self-sampled orchestrations throughout time. None more sinister though (in our opinion) than "Arson", taken from their forthcoming album GAME 3, due out April 22nd on MUZAI Records.

A nightmarish amalgamation of industrial and glitch, "Arson" would seem well suited in a techno-punk soundtrack as it's cacophonous ascension throughout it's near five minutes conjures Brutalist images of a cold, steel edged landscape - perhaps if Vangelis had discovered torn jeans and grunge before scoring "Blade Runner", it might have sounded something like this.

Might... he was around before grunge, admittedly...

Perhaps owing more to that musical output than the previously released laid back, pop-tinted "Bleach", "Arson" is one of GAME 3's most aggressive, unnerving accomplishment; unabashedly moving away from the "vaporwave" tags other orchestrations of G A M E S H A R K has fallen prey to in previous times.

G A M E S H A R K is one of many musical facets the incredible talented Echo Hazard has created; notably, Hazard has released works under the nom de plumes Salad Shark (IDM) s e a s h e l l s (sound collages/plunderphonics/Electronic) and Solve et Coagula (Existential Dance Music). Their overarching themes of subdued personal experimentation and "emulating people better than me for most of my life" all have different personalities, where G A M E S H A R K is almost the aggressor of the many.

Trained in bass guitar, self-trained in piano (albeit incorrectly) and fiddling/attempting to better themselves at synths/guitars/sampling/programming over the years, Hazard often uses obscure sample material in order to make new instrument, or to program drums with non-percussive elements, adding an organic nature to the otherwise techno-centric disposition of EDM.

G A M E 3 will be released on ultra-limited (we're not kidding) cassette tape and (not so limited) digital formats on April 22nd 2016.
