Chosen Ones in 12-hr battle with Zombies for charity

Specially chosen volunteers will tonight do battle with Zombies in a 12-hour marathon to raise funds and awareness for CanTeen.

The Dusk to Dawn Zombie Survival Challenge, which has already raised around $10,000 for the charity, gets underway tonight at 6pm at the ASB Showgrounds in Greenlane, Auckland.

The brainchild of Whanganui teenage cancer survivor Shelley Trodd, the Dusk to Dawn Zombie Survival Challenge will see Shelley and 8 especially chosen volunteers battling Zombies in a challenging darkened indoor arena, specifically created for the Royal Easter Show (the show opens to the public at 10am tomorrow).

Media are invited to meet Shelley and her fellow Zombie-battlers prior to the start of their 12-hour ordeal and at its conclusion tomorrow morning.

For more information, access to the Zombie Survival Challenge and the Royal Easter Show, please contact Mike Rose on 021 735-015.

The Royal Easter Show is at the ASB Showgrounds from tomorrow, March 24 until Monday, March 28. It is open 10am until 10pm daily. There is free admission for both adults and children.

Attractions include the huge Carnival area with its rides and sideshows, Drift Trikes and FMX riders, Chelsea and her Performing Canines, kids shows, a circus, a Strongest Man Contest and a Biggest Pig Competition.
