GODZone TEAMS TAKE IN ICONIC LOCATIONS MT OWEN AND ABEL TASMAN
Day four of GODZone and the teams out on the course have been experiencing some of the most iconic and spectacular geographical highlights Tasman has on offer.
The first three teams across the finish line have been Yealands Family Wines, Swordfox and Torpedo 7. Stu Lynch from Yealands Family Wines says they are aware they did not see some of the best locations.
“ A number of the places the teams have seen today we totally missed because we were travelling through them at night. It's the nature of racing but it would be good to go back in time see them all again during the daylight.”
The Cure Kids team with Richie McCaw enjoyed this morning’s sunrise on Mt Owen. GODZone official media photographer Alex Socci says the team could not believe the views.
“We saw them coming down from the Granity Pass Hut and they were looking really refreshed and amazed by the scenic beauty of Mt Owen. Sarah Fairmaid said they had planned it perfectly to sleep overnight and then get up in time to experience the sun popping up over the mountain.”
The Abel Tasman National Park has provided an epic backdrop for the front of the field paddling towards the finish line today. The bulk of the field is expected to arrive back in Kaiteriteri by lateThursday.
