SAS Sport become naming rights sponsor of Fox Memorial Shield
The Auckland
Rugby League announced a new deal with SAS Sport last night
at the launch of the Fox Memorial Premiership competition
held at the Pt Chevalier Pirates rugby league club.
As part of the agreement SAS Sport become the naming rights sponsors of the Fox Memorial Shield for the next two seasons.
ARL sponsorship manager Troy Hardy says he is pleased with the value of the sponsorship for both SAS Sport and the ARL.
"This has put the Fox Memorial on a higher pedestal to showcase the game moving forward for the next two seasons," he says.
The Shield carries the name of Edward Vincent Fox, who was as an outstanding member of pre-war North Shore backlines and represented Auckland against the 1914 England touring team before enlisting in the army.
For the last 84 years the Fox Memorial Shield has been awarded to Auckland's inter-club rugby league championship winners.
The Fox Memorial Shield is currently home to the Pt Chevalier Pirates who won their third straight title in 2015.
"We are delighted to be involved with the Fox Memorial," said Tim Connolly of SAS Sport at last night's event.
"If it wasn't for rugby league, our brand wouldn't be where it is now. I'd like to thank you all for that.
"We look forward to this year's Fox Memorial Premiership competition and watching some good footy this weekend."
The SAS Fox Memorial Premiership competition kicks off this weekend with two big games scheduled for the grand season opening on Sunday 10 April at Mt Smart Stadium #2.
