When Tinder is No Longer a Game

When Tinder is No Longer a Game

WHEN TINDER IS NO LONGER A GAME BUT PART OF A SERIOUS LIFE PLAN

RENEE LYONS PRESENTS
TINDERELLA

Award winning comedic actress Renee Lyons makes her NZ International Comedy Festival debut with the premiere of Tinderella – her funniest, most absurd show yet. Playing for 5 nights only at the Basement Studio from May 3 –7, this is a brutally honest and hilarious account of life as a woman exiting her beloved thirties in search of a man, a child and the rule book on how to be an adult.

Ten years ago, at the ripe age of 29, Renee left a perfectly good corporate job in Hong Kong, an investment banker boyfriend and an apartment on the 24th floor to return home and become ‘New Zealand’s best actress’. And so the fairy tale began. The princes turned out to be toads, the goose that laid the golden egg went to all the very pretty under 25-year-old actresses, and Tinderella heads into her 40’s single and childless but with a treasure chest filled to the brim with stories of what not to do.

In Tinderella, Renee brings her personal experiences of life in the dating game, her thoughts on all the things God got wrong and a cocophony irreverent and absurd accounts of life on the road less travelled.

Renee is best remembered for her exceptional performance in her first solo show Nick: An Accidental Hero which toured with critical acclaim, to Edinburgh, Melbourne and throughout New Zealand. Her second show Soo-Young: The Musical! also played to sold out houses in Auckland in 2014.
