Raise a Glass to Local Independent Filmmaking!

Ahead of their world premiere, Torchlight Films are delighted to reveal three beautiful New Zealand wines in celebration of the upcoming feature film The Great Maiden’s Blush.

Now available in select supermarkets, this limited edition release features a Martinborough Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris, and a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. The beautiful labels were painted by Wellington artist Jake Fairweather, based on stills from the feature film.

Sourced from premium producers by Global Wines, the Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc features bright aromatics of fresh citrus, peach, and flint. Elegantly structured with lively acidity carrying the wine long across the palate towards a dry, stony sensation on the finish.

The Martinborough Pinot Gris has perfumed aromas of apricots, nectarines and green pears. A rich mid-palate displaying mild oak influence. The wine finishes dry and crisp with lingering hints of warming spice.

The Martinborough Pinot Noir features seductive aromas of dark cherry, dried rose petals, thyme and damp earth. Beautifully varietal, elegant and long on the palate.

Global Wines is proud to be able to support The Great Maiden’s Blush. As Global Wines is important to Wellington as a supplier of premium wines, so are the independent filmmakers of our capital.

Premiering at Embassy Theatre Wellington on 2 May, and screening in select cinemas across New Zealand from 5 May, the film stars Miriama McDowell (The Dark Horse, Hope & Wire) and Renee Lyons, two new mothers, disparate characters, who are brought together by the birth of their respective babies. Like the beautiful rose that gives the film its name, The Great Maiden's Blushblooms into a rich yet delicate tale of new motherhood, babies and absent fathers, opera and drag racing, gardening and Schubert.

Purchase of The Great Maiden’s Blush wines will help to fund the theatrical release of the film across New Zealand. So raise a glass to funding local independent filmmaking.
